Mumbai Monsoon- Blessing or Curse?

The much awaited Monsoon is here in the city! The so called season of Love, happiness and joy has finally arrived. No doubt everyone desperately waited for monsoon after the scorching heat of summer began to kill them. But is this monsoon ‘Picture perfect’?

As expected on the very first day of monsoon the city of Mumbai was flooded with water along with happiness. The newly started metro rail was giving its passengers a good shower time. Yes, it was pouring water all over! Heavy rains threw Mumbaikars’ daily lives out of gear as most parts of city and suburbs had waterlogging cases which led to heavy traffic jams. The first day of heavy rains exposed the civic body’s poor monsoon preparation.

Along with waterlogging there were issues of collapsing trees too. Local trains were running late, eventually disrupting daily commuter’s routine. There were traffic snarls on some sections of the Eastern Express Highway along with Western Express Highway.

Inspite of all these issues Mumbaikars’ breathe a sigh of relief as there won’t be water shortage anymore. People are happy with the cool and serene atmosphere. So no matter how many hurdles are caused by the monsoon, the spirit of Mumbai is intact!!
