Monsoon always arrives with a storm of fresh energy to explore new things and places. We all start hunting for plush green hangouts to visit for weekends. At the same time we are tied up with budget so we tend to look for cheaper monsoon fun getaways. Do indulge in the pleasure the nature offers you this season.

Here are some few interesting places around our very own Mumbai city which will surely give you value for money experiences!

Lonavla: Undoubtedly one of the best places to visit in monsoon. The drive from Mumbai to Lonavla is simply jaw dropping. It is a hill station situated in Pune district. It gets transformed into a paradise in monsoon. It is also famous for its Chikki. Do visit to grasp its divine beauty and waterfalls. You can combine the trip to Lonavla and Khandala with sightseeing visits to Karla, Bedsa and Bhaja caves and also the Visapur and Lohagad forts.

Kolad: Kolad is a village situated in Raigad district. It has variety of resorts and river drafting opportunities on the Kundalika river. It offer you with Adventure sports like Rafting, Rappelling, Camping, Para sailing, etc. So put on your shoes and make out the most of this adventure spot with your buddies. During river rafting you will be in awe of the spectacular scenery that will encompass you throughout the journey.

Malshej ghat: It is a mountain pass situated at the western ghats in Thane district. It is full of different kinds of flora and fauna. So if you are a nature lover you will surely enjoy its beauty. A fascinating view of valleys is one of the major attractions here. The view which we get behind the MTDC resort is a must watch. It is also famous for dark woods and the animals which includes leopards, tigers, rabbits and peacocks. Khireshwar is another famous place situated there. Being a hilly region you will see many waterfalls. This riveting beauty is worth visiting.

Naneghat: Naneghat is a mountain pass in the Western Ghats range near Junnar in Pune district. It is well known for trekking and is simple and enjoyable. The trek route is marked clearly and passes through dense teak-wood forests. You reach the base of ‘Nanacha Angatha’ which is the pinnacle of Naneghat plateau, climbing from the forest. There are artificially made up caves which acts as a resting point for the trekkers.

Matheran: Its a beautiful hill station located at a distance of about 100kms from Mumbai in the Raigad district. It is one of the most popular weekend destinations. Situated at a height of 2,625 feet above sea level it is unique in the sense that no motorized vehicles are allowed within the town, enhancing the serenity of the place. One can travel around Matheran on foot, horse backs or hand pulled rickshaws. The picturesque town is dotted with beautiful red colored streets and a few local food joints. Clouds partially decent during monsoons, on the town and the view of the adjoining valley becomes astounding. The various natural waterfalls in the area magnify the mesmerizing effect.
