Female Foeticide.

A daughter is a gift of joy and delight forever. In a country like India this statement has no importance. Birth of a girl child is considered as disgrace. People here are obsessed with male child to shine their genesis. So what if the sonography reports show that its a girl in the mother’s ovum?
Well, it is ABORTED. Yes, the foetus is aborted because it was female. The term used for this shameful act is called ‘Female foeticide’. Even though sonography in our country is illegal, its presence in unaltered. Sonography was supposedly started to determine the abnormalities in foetus but it was wrongly used for sex determination in our country.
This has lead to a disturbed sex ratio. Boys have outnumbered girls! This mainly happens because poor families in remote areas are not financially stable to pay the dowrywhich a boy’s family will demand during their daughter’s marriage. So to avoid this complications the only option left is to end the girl’s life before it enters this hideous world of hypocrisy!
These has resulted in lot of issues for females. The lady who undergoes an abortion is mentally and physically disturbed. She goes through emotional trauma. It also leads to women trafficking where women are kidnaped and sold for marriages. As it is obvious that if number of females is less than every boy wont be blessed with a bride!
All this can be stopped if only everyone is educated about the importance of a girl child in life and how beautifully she can change your world. People should also realise that girls are not a burden anymore infact they are more emotionally stable and have the capacity to be financially sound too. So instead of killing her you should be proud to be blessed with a girl.
Government should also take strict actions against dowry so that no parent will kill his daughter because of his inability to pay the dowry!
