5 India’s Young But Brave Hearts

How much of Today’s Youth would Sacrifice Life for their country like These Brave hearts?

Another year has passed, another celebration is here; but have we completely forgotten about our youngest heroes, who fought, bled and died for our peaceful days and calm nights?
It’s a shame how we sometimes fail to acknowledge their sacrifices, while rejoicing in our own freedom. Let’s put a hold onto this thought and thank all those legends who have made another Independence Day possible in India.

It was in 1947, when India became independent. Henceforth, every year great celebrations are made on August 15 to pay homage to the leaders who can’t be thanked enough for all that they have done for us. Scrolling back to history, here’s a small tribute for some of the youngest yet great heroes who fought for India’s glory, rights and equality even at tender agex. As they say, “Age is just a number!”

Bhagat Singh

Bhagat Singh was one of the most influential revolutionaries whose stories of sheer bravery are told even now. It was his daring attitude and his love for the country which lead him to leave everything only to let India win back her honor and pride. While talking about young heroes, one can never ignore his impact in the history of our nation. As a non-believer of Gandhian philosophy, he along with his supporters, bombed the Central Legislative Assembly to express his disapproval of the British taking over India. From taking revenge for Lala Lajpat Rai’s death to fasting for 116 days in jail, Bhagat Singh proved his fearlessness in many ways.
His strong words- “Sar Kata Sakte Hai Lekin Sar Jhuka Sakte Nahi”, even till now doesn’t cease to spark up the patriotic spirit in any Indian’s heart.

Mangal Pandey

Mangal Pandey was actually a soldier in 34th regiment of the British East India Company. He was working under the colonial powers and was someway working against the best of Indians. But soon when the British tried to attack the religious beliefs and their moral codes, the brave sepoy lost his calm and sparked off the first struggle for independence. He not only disobeyed their norms but also attacked many of the British officers. Because of his rebellious nature he was soon hanged to death. Even in his death, he motivated several others to stand up and fight for their rights.

Jatindra Nath Das, famously known as Jatin Das was one of the most important members of Mahatma Gandhi’s several movements against the colonial powers. This young man, started out his journey at a tender age of nineteen, when his left his home and parents in Calcutta to fight for India, under Gandhi’s motivation. He is very well remembered for making the British officers apologize to him, when he went on a twenty-one days hunger strike to revolt against the ill-treatment of political leaders in jail. Later, he was called all over India to generate awareness amongst the masses. This young brave boy, even agreed to accompany Bhagat Singh in bomb making.

Khudiram Bose

Khudiram Bose is known to be as the youngest supporter of Indian freedom struggle. Bose was a lionhearted Bengali and was one the most patriotic teenagers who took complete responsibility of spreading the fire of revolution, not just all around the city and the state but also all around the nation. At a young age of only sixteen, Khudiram Bose had actively participated in three bombings that had killed several British officials. Three years later, he was executed and sentenced to death by the colonial government.

Bal Raj Bhalla was a motivated revolutionary freedom fighter who got inspired by Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Dadabhai Naroji. Soon after he attained knowledge about India’s struggle for independence he left his wealthy family and education only to join the other supporters.
At a very tender age of sixteen, Raj Bhalla not only revolted against the British empire but also fought for eradicating the malpractice of untouchability. He was imprisoned soon after stepping into the war field for bombing the British General Governor. Later, he moved masses by writing powerful journals, articles and speeches in some of the most popular Indian languages like Hindi, Punjabi as well as English.
No wonder each of these heroes show that when it comes having nationalistic feelings and when it comes to fighting for the nation, young age actually doesn’t matter quite a lot. This 69th Independence Day, it’s thus time to keep all these heroes alive forever, not just in the textbooks but also truly in our memories. Let’s keep the fire within us, burning.
