There has been more than one of those moments in life when we have wondered about those people, and those extraordinary things they did, the powers they possessed and sometimes it was just the courage. There has been more than one of those moments when we wished it was us, only to realize that they don’t exist in the first place. To all those people who have made an impact on our lives, these are a few who stood out:

1. Sherlock Holmes.

It is the genius of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle that the character of the mad detective cum recluse Sherlock Holmes was created and given life to. Every adventure of the famous detective written was not only closely followed by readers all over the world but also adapted by makers into TV shows then and even now. The character is like any other detective solving clues, except he’s not. The tiniest details don’t escape him, and he has the sharpest, smartest and the wittiest mind possible. Everything about him is lively except he’s not. His ability to solve cases by never missing out on any intricate details is what ultimately leads his audience to love him unconditionally, in literary and visual form.

2. James Bond.

James Bond, arguably the world’s most popular spy, who doesn’t even exist is a fictional take on a US spy who takes on deadly missions, travels the world, uses the best possible gadgets, lands all the beautiful women…phew, And a lot more! From Pierce brosnan to Sean Connery to Daniel Craig, James Bond is not only the spy who fights enemies and blows up the expensive cars, but the only one. Perhaps if we are jealous of something more than we are jealous of James Bond, it is the Bond girl. When 007 is assigned to duty, the whole world watches. And prays. And hopes.

3. Harry Potter.

What started as a literary phenomena thanks to Jk Rowling, has now caught on by the whole world. More than a decade ago, noone would have imagined that this character who sets off onto an unimaginable journey to Hogwarts, would face such obstacles and opportunities alike that everyone would be completely awed with. It’s not just a trend, but a character that most people relate to, because they have been with him together, on all the adventures from Sorcerer’s Stone to the Prisoner of Azkaban to the Deathly Hallows. Harry potter to many, is a very real and existing character that was brought to life by Danielle Radcliffe and held our attention for 7 long books and movies.

4. Alice.

Almost everyone remembers Alice falling into the rabbit hole and her extraordinary adventure through the forest along with some highly fascinating characters that was a literary and visual genius in itself. How the story of a simple, young girl who accidentally comes face to face with a world never seen like before has created such a worldwide phenomenon about it is brilliant in itself. Alice is someone most girls do relate with, in some way or another as it creates so much depth in our life unlike the way we see it and adds purpose to it.

5. The Doctor.

One of the most successful science fiction shows in history, Doctor Who has had a great influence on culture. If you know what a Dalek is, and you have seen the scary parts of Doctor Who from behind the couch, then you are a certified fan. Not only has Doctor who had millions of fans over the many generations, but it has inspired these fans to come up with their versions and also many spinoffs of the series that are as well watched too. Luckily for the true fans, the show has been revived again, much to our amazement and continues to still be as surprising, adventurous and ming blogging as ever. Which makes Doctor Who an easy, expected contender on this list due to the unanimous love received by it by all generations alike.

6. Batman.

Also known as the Dark knight, the Silent guardian and the Watchful protector, the Batman is particularly a symbol of Ray and hope not only in Gotham City, where he resides and vows to clean up, but also apparently the whole world, even decades after being introduced in the comics. It was after his parents’ unfortunate death that Bruce Wayne truly found himself and the person who he was meant to be: someone who is meant to save his city. The sheer genius of this character and the obstacles he faces in the villains he encounters and the battles he wins lies in having no superpowers but the detective skills that he possesses which help him become relatable to generations of people and continues to be still as a beacon of light.

7. Tintin.

Not that I have to remind you but for those who aren’t aware, Tintin is a reporter and adventurer who travels around the world along with his dog Snowy. Tintin originally appears as a 15 year old young man with a weird hairstyle. However, he makes up for it by having a sharp intellect, by being able to defend himself. One of the many reasons why Tintin is liked by children and adults like is the fact that he is someone we have wished ourselves to be: honest, compassionate and extremely kind. He investigates and does reporting by thinking quick, and on his feet. It is no wonder that he is always able to solve the mystery and complete the adventures that he begins on. Reading the adventures all over again is a treat in itself and offers many joys of being able to wander off into this fantasy world.

8. Hannah Montana.

She started off as any teenage high school phenomenon however there is more to Hannah Montana than any of us realize. Hannah Montana successfully, sometimes not, juggled between being a normal teenage girl and a rock star who was universally loved. How she chose to lead a simple, normal life instead of having all the fame and power she needed is a huge lesson to us in itself. She had her ups and downs in life, however she always stood back up, with the support of her family and made sure that every time, she would do what she wanted to and keep her friends and family close through it all. It covers the most impactful and important phases of our life: teenage and how to deal with it, which is it made it easy for us to love.

9. Suppandi.

If you have ever read Tinkle, you would know exactly who Suppandi is and the anticipation you used to have to read the next book after finishing one and find out what Suppandi does next. Suppandi is everything we love in people, he’s naive, he’s funny, he’s kind and he’s fun. How he plans to do something and how it backfires is probably the coolest thing about this character who we all wish were real. Not only is he unknowingly funny, he looks funny too. It helps to know that he never tries to amuse, but is successful in doing so anyway. The best things in life are short and sweet, and Suppandi is the best example there could be.

10. Joker

The joker, batman’s villain is famously known for his punchlines, one line puns and reality checks. The joker is someone each one of us relates to, to a great extent as he stands for all things we wish to, except he’s evil. He’s evil and looking to hurt people. However, the ideals with which the character has been developed since the comic book stage and the movies tell us if a character who despises the hierarchy and reminds us why things are not supposed to work the way they do. The eye catching costumes, the face make up, the laugh and all the tricks, make the joker sometimes make the joker seem more human than any of us!
